Summer's Ending, My Career JUST Beginning

Talk about the favor of God! I cannot express how happy I am right now. I've not done everything He's asked of me, but THANK GOD he sees my heart. He knows how much I want this and He is making it happen.

So, guys I'm sure you've been wondering "What's going on with Semaj?" Or maybe not. LOL But I'm here to tell you anyway.

GREEEEEAAAAAAAT news!

The album is less than 4 songs away from being completed. I have not set a release date because I am still looking for someone to master the whole CD. My Dad is trying to find me someone great...like a guy who's mixed for Mary J. before. Gotta love connections. :-)


ALSO, yesterday a guy from myspace, whose done tracks for some people in the industry, decided to GIVE me TWO tracks for the album. I needed two more and he GIVES them to me! God is soooo great. It's crazy.


Lastly, an HU grad student asked my song "I Love You" to be featured in one of her films.
And CHECK THIS she wants to do a music video for the song FOR FREE! Can we say YAY! It's crazy.

I am so excited and feel so blessed right now. The funding for the album is here. Everything is falling into place. Guys, I really think this might happen. I'm so happy and cannot wait to share this with you all.

I'm proud of this album. I think I've written songs that will make you happy, make you think and make you dance :-). I pray you enjoy this.

Trey Songz Show

Hey guys!

Day after the Trey Songz show--didn't even see Trey Songz because it was 2:00 a.m. by the time I performed. But hey...it was cool.

My management and team said the performance went well. I don't really know how I felt about it. I think I could have done better, but it was cool.

The Gadsden crowd wasn't like the DC crowd, so that's something I have to get used to. But I think they got into it.

Next week I'm on a show in Birmingham @ Club Bongo's at 5:00 on Sunday!!!

So, let's be real. People have the capacity and the tendency to say things that aren't completely self esteem building or uplifting. In fact, they can say some things that are just rude. And I've learned that these people aren't always acting out of their own will, rather it is the jealous nature that has somehow found its way into their being. I understand.

Trust me, I've had moments of envy and moments where I wanted something someone else had. BUT, I've realized this: my dreams won't happen unless I make them. There are things I must do in order to get to desired end; expected end. So, jealousy is pointless. If you want something, get it.

I'm in the middle of one of the hardest journeys I've had to take. Pursuing music is difficult. There are so many stereotypes I want to stay away from. I want to keep my sound. I want to be myself in an industry that doesn't always smile upon that. In addition, I'm producing, pacakging and funding this entire project by myself. But this is what I want. And I'm willing to do whatever it takes.

I will not let the naysayers and the "haters" bring me down. I have to stay encouraged because I have enough to deal with. And I know my confidence can often be taken for arrogance, but those are never my intentions. I'm just focused. I know what I want and I'm going for it.

Moreover, I'm in the right place at the right time. I know my being at Howard bothers a lot of people from my home town. They think I've changed and, honestly, I have. However, how can you expect someone to go 500 miles away and be exposed to so much culture and positivity and not become a new person. I don't think I've changed for the worst. I think I'm just more aware of things and there are things I will not tolerate. I know what I deserve and what I'm capable of and apologizing for that is not in the cards.

So, what I'm trying to say is that I cannot let what others say about this road I'm taking affect me. If this is what I want, I have be ready to take everything that comes along with it. And I'll do it all with a smile. :-)

Hello world! Welcome to the first day of my life. Ok, so I know I've done a lot up until this point, but I've decided that my dreams are not just going to happen. I've got to work for them. But first I have to believe in them. With that said, today I'm getting serious about my career.

I've watched myself go from a small town girl with big city dreams to someone who is living in the actuality of those dreams. True, I haven't made it to the place that I would like to be, but I'm certain that I'm well on my way. I'm actualizing my dreams. I just want to be happy. And this is what makes me happy.

So, thank you all as I pursue this world of music. It's not an easy road, but I don't really do easy. I like a challenge :-) Thanks for all of your support and love. I ask that you stay with me as I try to bring music back to a great place. I love you all and I cannot wait to make it; though I feel like I already have!
